About Us
As a radio sports reporter/commentator, I’m big on interaction. That interaction is keyed by passionate fans, and they don’t get any more passionate than NASCAR fans do. Passionate fans are the fuel for Bump Drafts.
My day job requires extensive coverage of the “stick and ball” sports, something I’ve been doing for parts of three decades. That unique perspective springs forth a perspective of today’s NASCAR you’re not likely to get anywhere else.
Old school race fans may find they do not always agree- but they know this: all perspectives are welcome here. We may agree to disagree about foreign makes, the Car of Tomorrow, today’s driver and other hot topics- but I believe all will agree we can agree to disagree agreeably and learn from one another’s points of view.
This site has been named as a member of NASCAR’s “Citizen Journalist Media Corps” – a distinction I am alternately proud of and humbled by. Given that charge, know this site is committed to honest, unvarnished commentary and is committed to the highest journalistic standards. First and foremost, this is a commentary site, but the commentaries, profiles, news stories and information is shared from a place of integrity and a commitment to doing right by its readers.
I am Jim Mc Coy, publisher, editor and primary author of Bump Drafts. I am Sports Reporter and Producer for KDOV-FM “The Dove” in Medford, Oregon. My comprehensive coverage of the world of sports includes everything from high school athletics to the professional ranks- including local racing and NASCAR.
I live in nearby Central Point with my wife Lynnae, herself a successful personal finance writer and owner of www.beingfrugal.net. She inspired this site. We are parents to Hannah (11) and Jonathan (6).
We are all NASCAR fans.
Bump Drafts also owes its success to its team of guest contributors: former Germain Racing mechanic Patrick Reynolds of North Carolina, Jeremy T. Sellers- an “old school” NASCAR fan, Rescue Worker and owner of Jerm’s Joint Racing Pub, “Mustang” Jackie Smith, herself a longtime NASCAR fan and humorist when not working in the agricultural tools industry in Texas, and John “Dawg” Chapman- a former midget racer, crew member, crew chief and passionate fan from Tennessee.
Thanks for stopping by. Come in, visit often, and be sure join in the conversation. If you want to talk NASCAR, you’re in the right place.
