Jimbo how is this and insult to Tiger? I think YOU are missing the point here.
The comparison is this :

When someone mentions GOLF ..Tiger Woods comes to mind..he’s POPULAR
When someone mentions NASCAR..Dale Jr comes to mind ..HE’S POPULAR

Tiger is the FACE OF GOLF
Junior is the FACE OF NASCAR

MOST POPULAR doesn’t necessarily mean best @ the sport.

Granted Tiger IS both…but *that’s* not the point Patrick was making here.

Patrick, don’t let the negative remarks bother you…we *GET* what you’re saying even if the Junior haters don’t.

Comparing Earnhardt Jr. to Woods is the biggest insult you could possibly lay on Tiger Woods. Comparing the greast golfer of our time with a guy who has a last name that most people know…unbelievable!!! Too bad Tiger didn’t have ‘Palmer” as a last name. He could have saved all that effort of actually being good at what he does.

Nice article. Some good food for thought. I think a lot of people follow these two athletes because they are genuine, down to earth people. I believe I have read that neither one of them will endorse a product that they don’t use themselves. I appreciate that. Keep up the good work. it was nice to read an article about JR since Daytona that wasn’t smarmy, nasty or just down righ garbage. If I understand it correctly, a blog gets money from its advertisers based on the number of hits the site gets. So it seemed the last couple of weeks, everyone had a comment about JR; mostly bad. Glad yours was factual.

Very well stated, Pat. Great comparison. I agree with you. There is many a person outside racing that knows of Junior, or for that fact, knows of Woods as a golfer; but they know little about the sport. Most probably even use those names for personal gain for social prominence. I am in that boat of knowing little about golf, the NFL (I know, shame on me), or any other sport but I do know a fair amount about NASCAR and some of it’s drivers. As for using it for personal gain, that would be plasphemy. What kind of fan would I be if I did that?….a very sorry excuse for a humam….IMO.
