Some plans I had for today stalled out, but that’s o.k. I’ve been wanting for a long time to comment on NASCAR’s current landscape and chime in on it.
I got beat to the punch by someone a little bit closer to the action than I am. Tonight on Jay Busbee’s From The Marbles there’s an interview Jay did with Jenna Fryer from Associated Press. What I read there really resonated with me as far as what I can glean from what’s going out there. Her perspective on the economy’s effect on NASCAR really makes sense, as does what NASCAR can do- which I’ve always believed isn’t much. The economy is what it is and NASCAR’s structure doesn’t lend itself to a “bail out” of sorts for the teams.
It’s a great read, so go over and check it out. I’m not saying that just because (by way of disclosure) I am on Jay’s blog roll. I am also appreciative of sites like Jayski’s, Fan Zone and Yahoo! for what they contribute and I especially appreciate the first two mentioned there for bringing me to you. We all bring something a little different from the table.
By the way, I’ve been getting a real kick out of the Rowdy guys with their video vignettes. Buck Fever and Bass Masters are a kick in the pants, and God knows we could all stand a good laugh once in a while. That’s Racin’ is also good too as I have a lot of respect for David Poole’s work.
I know I’m leaving a lot of other good stuff out. Where are you readin’ these days? By the way- I thank all of you who read here and most of all participate by making comments and lending something to the discussion. I’ve kinda taken (being a radio guy) kind of a radio talk show host’s approach to this and it works for me. And having said that- I would have a boring conversation if not for you. My wife, “JuneBug88″ can vouch for the fact that I talk to myself enough as it is.

I should be up with something fun tomorrow and I’m also having a discussion with a NASCAR team mechanic who has a real insider’s view on all that’s going on right now, and I hope to get that out ASAP.
